At our office, we use a digital scanner to examine your smile. Our periodontist can utilize this scanner to capture high-quality, three-dimensional photos of your teeth and mouth. We can then use these images to create a digital model of your mouth. That model can be very valuable when it comes to looking for and identifying issues with your smile and for planning your treatment. Because of the quality and accuracy of the scanner, we can locate damage to your teeth and even identify diseased oral tissues. This model is extremely useful for placing dental restorations or for the placement of appliances. They are also used in planning orthodontic treatments.
The scanning process is easy and comfortable. Our periodontist or hygienist will place a small wand inside of your mouth. As the wand passes over your teeth, the scanner takes multiple images that will instantly create a detailed and accurate picture of your teeth and mouth. Because the scanner automatically saves the images, you will only need one scan, which our periodontist can reference throughout your treatment.
If you would like to learn more about the benefits of digital scanning or see our scanner in action, call our office and schedule your appointment with our periodontist.
